Privacy policy
Tolera makes measuring tools for Android: Level (Bubble Level & Clinometer) and Sound Meter (Decibel & Noise), with more to come. This policy explains what these apps do with your data. In short: they don't collect any.
What the apps do with data
- Measurements stay on your phone. The apps read your phone's sensors (motion sensors in Level, the microphone in Sound Meter) and turn the signals into numbers on the device. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
- We don't collect personal data. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting to us, and no advertising. The apps don't request internet access.
- What's stored on your phone: your settings, calibration values, and any measurements you choose to save. They stay in the app's private storage and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
- Backups: if Android backup is turned on, Android may include your settings and saved measurements in your own backup in your Google account, as it does for other apps. Calibration values are excluded, because they belong to one physical phone. We can't access your backups.
App-specific details
Level. Uses the accelerometer and, during calibration, the magnetometer (to confirm you turned the phone). Readings are processed only while the app is on screen.
Sound Meter. Uses the microphone only while the meter is on screen, and only after you allow it. Sound is never recorded, stored or sent. It is processed in memory, a few milliseconds at a time, and turned into sound-level numbers. Only the numbers you choose to save are kept. Android shows its microphone indicator whenever the meter is listening.
Purchases
Optional Pro upgrades are sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment under the Google Privacy Policy. We receive only what Google Play provides to confirm the purchase on your device; we don't receive your payment details.
Sharing your data
We don't sell, share or transfer data, because we don't collect any. If you use a share or export button, the app hands the text or file to the app you choose (for example, email). That's your action, under that app's policy.
Children
The apps are general-audience tools for ages 13 and up. They don't knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
This website
tolera.dev has no cookies, analytics, ads or trackers. Like any website, it reaches you through Cloudflare and our web server, which see your IP address and the page you ask for in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our server's technical logs are used for nothing else and are deleted automatically within a few weeks. Cloudflare handles that data under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Changes
If an app ever starts collecting data (for example, if a free version shows ads), we'll update this policy and the app's Google Play "Data safety" section before that version is released, and change the date above.
